Brewing news Australia: Coopers Brewery Foundation donates $30 000 to Cardiovascular Research Centre

The Coopers Brewery Foundation has presented a cheque for $30,000 to the Cardiovascular Research Centre (CRC) at a special presentation at Coopers Brewery, according to company’s press release, May 2.

The cheque was the first donation to be made by the Foundation, which is funded through the proceeds of tours of Coopers brewery at Regency Park, individual donations and other fundraising activities. Coopers Managing Director, Dr Tim Cooper, presented the cheque to CRC representatives, Professors Stephen Worthley and Prash Sanders.

Dr Cooper, who was training as a cardiologist in the UK before joining Coopers, said the donation coincided with National Heart Week and would help the CRC’s work in reducing the incidence of heart disease in the community. “The Foundation was set up with the aim of assisting charities with interests aligned to the goals of its charter. We are therefore delighted to be able to assist the CRC with its work,” he said.

Dr Cooper was also named as the inaugural Patron of the CRC, along with former Commonwealth Gold Medallist and Olympic silver medallist, runner Raelene Boyle. The Coopers Brewery Foundation aims to improve and protect the quality of life of Australians by providing support to charitable organisations in medical research and health care, youth education and aged care, and in fostering family and community support based on Christian values.
